Two Stories of Struggle and Triumph
There are many obstacles to a good life for people with intellectual disabilities. This is the story of two individuals who are making their way in the Ottawa community. Moira Fuenzalida has a past that includes her family fleeing persecution by the Pinochet regime in Chile. Caroline Matte suffered from the consequences of residing in an institution. Both are now living in the community and moving forward with their lives. The two videos were created collaboratively with the subjects and Professor Ann-Louise Davidson of Concordia University as part of an action research project called "Vid-Ability: developing self-advocacy skills through video." The "Interesting fact" still slides as well as opening and closing slides were inserted post-production by Keenan Wellar from LiveWorkPlay.
