It has not been uncommon in the history of the web to find self advocates and advocates alike online using the internet as a tool to spread the word or tell their story. Over the last while since the re-launch of cacl.ca we have shared many posts that tells peoples stories. In many ways it is what makes up the back bone of our website. In recent weeks I have noticed an interesting development with in the movement of online advocacy which I find to be very powerful. I dont know if the approach has been inspired by the No More Barriers - Video produced by the BC Self Advocacy Foundation that we featured on this blog the past November or not, however the theme is very obvious here. People have a message and want to say it in such a way that everyone can access it, words are very powerful and these messages really do show that.
Josh and his sister Grace from Paris, Ontario (pictured below) have put together a series of powerful images that has gone viral on Facebook over the last 2 days, you can check them out on our Facebook page, while your on the page why not share the post to help spread Josh and Grace's powerful message to raise awareness. (NOTE: you will need a Facebook account to access these Facebook links)
After I originally posted this on our Facebook page I came across another powerful message from a mother and daughter self-advocate team using words again to help spread the word about her story. Posted on the 4th of January Maddox Lucille McClintic and her mom made this Youtube video about her story to help raise awareness, which we have also shared on our Youtube channel. Check out the video below or go directly to our Youtube favorites list and watch it or share it from there with your family and friends help to spread these powerful messages.
