February is National Inclusive Education Month

Inclusive Education Month 2013

February is Inclusive Education Month to mark that Inclusive Education Canada and Community Living Ontario are sponsoring two events focused on making schools inclusive.

On Wednesday February 27, a one-day session will be held in Toronto that will focus on the implications of the Supreme Court of Canada decision in Moore Vs B.C. for schools and school boards. The session is designed for educators, policy makers, parents and advocates. Resource people with a number of perspectives will share their views. Information about this event and to register for it can be found here

The second event is Three Day Symposium scheduled for July 14-17, 2013 in London, Ontario.  Western University and Brock University are partners in this project. This session will focus on developing school and classroom strategies to make accommodation of students with disabilities and other special needs a reality. The duty to accommodate and the Moore vs B.C. decision will be a focus of the session. A preliminary flyer is pictured below. More information will be available by March 1, 2013.

For the PDF versions of both flyers please click here for Meeting The Challenge and here for Diversity Challenge.
