federal budgets and fiscal updates

Each year the Federal Government issues a Federal Budget and a Fiscal Update. The Fiscal Update, which provides an overview of the Government's fiscal situation, is issued each Fall. The Fiscal Update also acts as an indicator for new spending directions, investments and commitments. The Federal Budget is issued every year in the Spring. The Budget provides the fiscal framework for how the Federal Government will spend its money.

CACL provides an analysis of the Federal Budget and Fiscal Update to explain what these documents mean for people with an intellectual disability and their family.

The Federal Government hosts Pre-Budget Consultations each year to hear from Canadians how they think the Government should spend their money. Additionally, the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance hosts hearings each year to speak with particular groups and stakeholders about their Pre-Budget Consultation submissions. CACL submits a finance brief each year and requests to appear before the Finance Committee.
