In November 2007, CACL issued a limited edition of the 2007 National Report Card on Inclusion of Canadians with Intellectual Disabilities. The report card illustrates that despite the progress that has been made in the last 50 years, many Canadians with intellectual disabilities and their families continue to face exclusion, isolation and poverty.
In November 2008, a more comprehensive National Report Card addressing all ten CACL priority areas was released at our 50th Anniversary Conference.
The 2009 Report was released on December 3rd, 2009, on International Disability Day. It covers three main objectives in CACL’s 10-year Agenda: ending poverty, closing institutions, and securing labour force/employment access.
The purpose of this National Report Card on Inclusion is to provide a mechanism to comment on and track the progress we are making as a country on the attainment of these objectives. It is not intended to be a comprehensive analysis of every aspect of Canadian society, but rather to provide for our collective consideration a number of indicators in each area that demonstrate both our accomplishments and ongoing challenges.
