The Canadian Association for Community Living (CACL) turns 50 in 2008! For fifty years we have been striving for the full inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities, and doing so with much success. To celebrate, we're launching an effort to make an even bigger difference. And we're inviting you to join us.
Our aim this year is to make a dramatic impact on the awareness and commitment Canadians have for our cause. Throughout the coming months we are calling on Canadians to think bigger when they think 'Diversity.' To challenge the long-held idea that people with intellectual disabilities have 'deficits' that need to be fixed. Rather we think 'Diversity Includes' - disability.
We need your help so that more Canadians can come face-to-face with people with intellectual disabilities and their families, in this year and in years to come. So they can learn about the contributions we have to offer, the issues we face, our agenda and strategies for change, the difference Canadians can make.
Outlined here are 10 exciting initiatives we have underway to celebrate 50 years of showing Canadians what it means to think bigger by including all people. These initiatives are geared to reach the broader Canadian public, paving the way to a more inclusive and diverse Canada.
Please join us in reaching out to Canadians, in making sure Diversity Includes. Here's how you can help:
An information package is available for interested sponsors and donors, outlining each of the initiatives and our funding needs.
