Making the CRPD a reality in Canada

United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities - Call to Action

The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is the first legally binding international treaty protecting the rights of persons with disabilities.  CACL was an active participant in the negotiation of the CRPD.  The CRPD was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2006.  Canada signed the CRPD on March 30, 2007.  CACL is calling on the Government of Canada to make CRPD ratification, without reservation, a priority for 2009.

CACL has developed a Call to Action that provides background information  on the CRPD and suggests ways for people to get engaged in making the CRPD a reality in Canada and around the world.
